The AusTriathlon has presented the 2032+ High Performance Strategy, a detailed framework aimed at propelling Australian triathlon into the spotlight on the international stage, with an eye on extraordinary outcomes by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Central to this initiative is the vision of “extraordinary performances and people inspiring the nation,” complemented by the mission to establish “the world’s leading triathlon team delivering unprecedented success.”
Strategic Focus Areas
Talent Recruitment and Pathways: A systematic approach will be implemented to identify and nurture athletes, guiding them through a defined performance pathway that ensures a consistent influx of elite talent.
Ascent Academy: The establishment of a high-performance, specialised development centre aims to enhance the medal potential for Australia’s most promising athletes and coaches, preparing them for both the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Games.
Podium Campaigns: Targeted campaigns will be launched with the objective of securing medal achievements in forthcoming international competitions, particularly at the 2028 and 2032 Olympic Games.
Coaching and Daily Performance Environments: An emphasis will be placed on increasing the number and quality of high-performance coaches, fostering training environments that support excellence and are grounded in a “win well” ethos.
Performance Support: Comprehensive support services will be provided, encompassing sports science, medicine, and psychology, in order to optimise athlete performance and availability.
Performance Insights and Innovation: The strategy will leverage data analytics and technological innovations to inform decision-making processes and enhance performance outcomes.
World-Class Leadership, Culture, Operations, and Governance: Development of a cohesive and efficient organisational structure that inspires leadership, nurtures a positive culture, and streamlines operations is also a priority.
Guiding Principles
Win Together: This principle is about fostering collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve common objectives.
Simplicity and Focus: Emphasis will be placed on identifying and prioritising the key areas that can have the most substantial impact on performance.
Excellence in Fundamentals: It is crucial that core practices are maintained to the highest standards.
Targeted Resource Allocation: Resources will be channelled toward initiatives that offer the greatest promise for success.
Alignment with What It Takes to Win (WITTW): Ensuring that all aspects of the programme are synchronised with strategies and behaviours essential for achievement is vital.
This strategy acts as a comprehensive guide for all stakeholders involved in triathlon in Australia, steering collective efforts towards the ambitious target of having over 200,000 participants at starting lines annually by 2032.
