Adelaide Crows High School Esports Tournament Signs Multi-Year Deal With Torrens University

Torrens University has announced a strategic multi-year partnership with the Adelaide Crows Australian and New Zealand high school esports tournament.

The two-year partnership with META High School Esports will allow Torrens University promote educational and development outcomes for students through the unique esports tournament platform, which encompasses popular games League of Legends, Rocket League and NBA 2K19.

In less than a year, META has grown rapidly to now comprise more than 300 school-based teams and has managed to engage with parents, teachers and government departments in the process.

Torrens University Vice-Chancellor, Justin Beilby, said the strategic partnership directly links the university to the growing esports industry and its expansive audience.

“It will also create strong ties to more than 20 undergraduate and postgraduate programs including Game Art, Game Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, UX & Web Design and Digital Media Design,” Beilby said.

“We are looking forward to building a long-lasting relationship with META and its current and future student gamers.”

META High School Esports League Commissioner, Woody Wu, said the organisation was excited to engage with Torrens University in a meaningful way.

“This partnership will help us connect our growing numbers of young student gamers to the wide and immersive opportunities offered by an innovative educational institution like Torrens University,” Wu said.

Adelaide Crows Football Club also owns the professional franchise Legacy Esports.
