The Brisbane Lions have announced a milestone, surpassing 75,000 members for the first time in the club’s history. The record-breaking achievement comes as the Lions prepare for their seventh consecutive AFL Finals campaign, opening with a blockbuster clash against the Gold Coast SUNS on Saturday night.
Thanking the fans for their unwavering belief and loyalty, Brisbane Lions CEO, Sam Graham, said: “No matter where we play, home at the Gabba or around Australia, the support and belief from our members is always an inspiration to the team.”
“So, to all our members, you are the life-blood of our Club and from everyone at the Lions, thank you for your support of the maroon, blue and gold.
“To achieve over 18% growth this season — 75,115 up from 63,268 in 2024 — is a credit to the entire playing group and all of our administration staff.
“Particularly, this is a reflection of our consistent on-field performances, which is a credit to all our players and AFL coaching staff led by Chris Fagan and Danny Daly, as well as our AFL and AFLW football programs guided by Craig Starcevich and Bree Brock,” Graham said.
The club’s surge in membership aligns with the AFL’s record-breaking national numbers in 2025, with more than 1.36 million Australians now signed on as members, the equivalent of one in 20 people across the country.
Praising the fans for their passion and loyalty, AFL CEO, Andrew Dillon, added: “We have the greatest fans in the world, supporting the game week in and week out and backing their clubs by becoming members in record numbers.”
“The 18 clubs do an amazing job of driving the passion and commitment of all our fans, reflected with 14 clubs breaking their all-time membership record.
“From the AFL and the clubs, I thank all club members and the seven million plus fans who attended a game this season — the loyalty shown makes our game great,” Dillon said.
The Lions’ membership growth underscores the club’s consistent rise both on and off the field. With Finals football set to ignite the Gabba once more, Brisbane is determined to reward its record-breaking supporter base with another deep September run.
