Atlassian, the Australian software company co-founded by Mike Cannon-Brookes, has entered a long-term partnership with Williams Racing, becoming the Formula 1 team’s title and technology partner. The team will now compete under the name Atlassian Williams Racing.
This collaboration is described as the largest sponsorship agreement in Williams’ 48-year history. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
Atlassian plans to implement a comprehensive digital transformation for Williams, leveraging its AI-powered platform to enhance teamwork and collaboration within the team. Cannon-Brookes highlighted that Formula 1 represents the ultimate team sport requiring cutting-edge technology, aligning with Atlassian’s expertise.
Williams’ team principal, James Vowles, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting the alignment in values and ambition between the two organisations. The collaboration aims to improve team performance through advanced technology and enhanced collaboration.
This move follows a trend of Australian companies increasing their presence in Formula 1, with Melbourne fintech Airwallex recently partnering with McLaren F1 to manage its financial operations.
The partnership will be officially launched at an event on 14 February, with the team’s new livery unveiled on 18 February in London.
