ASICS has extended its long-standing partnership with Events Management Queensland (EMQ), securing naming rights for the Gold Coast Marathon and expanding its involvement with the Pan Pacific Masters Games and the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon until 2032.
This extension marks the largest agreement in EMQ’s history and will see ASICS’ association with the Gold Coast Marathon reach a 30-year milestone by 2025.
EMQ CEO Ben Mannion described the agreement as a “significant milestone” that reinforces ASICS’ commitment to supporting world-class events. Mannion noted, “This agreement is a testament to ASICS’ confidence in the events we deliver and the potential to further enhance sport participation at all levels.” He added that the partnership will enable stronger connections with ASICS’ global events, aligning with the company’s philosophy of promoting the benefits of movement and a healthy lifestyle.
ASICS Oceania Managing Director, Mark Brunton, expressed excitement about continuing the successful relationship. “We’re incredibly proud to have been part of the Gold Coast Marathon for nearly three decades. This extension allows us to showcase our performance innovations and connect with Australians who share our passion for movement,” said Brunton. He emphasised the shared philosophy of using sport to unite communities and improve well-being.
Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) CEO Patricia O’Callaghan also praised the partnership, noting that the events have a global reach that elevates Queensland’s reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events. O’Callaghan said, “Securing this partnership demonstrates the international appeal of the Gold Coast Marathon and the Pan Pacific Masters Games. These events not only drive tourism but also provide significant economic benefits to the region.”
The Gold Coast Marathon, recognised as a world-class event, attracts thousands of athletes and spectators each year. The continued involvement of ASICS provides a stable platform for growth, especially in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate highlighted the importance of securing international partnerships, stating, “This endorsement further enhances the Gold Coast’s credentials as a major sporting and events destination.”
The extended partnership between ASICS and EMQ signals a strong commitment to promoting health and fitness while ensuring that Queensland remains a hub for global sports participation. As preparations begin for future events, including the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon, both EMQ and ASICS aim to continue building on their shared success and delivering top-tier sporting experiences.
