Yonex once again named as Official Australian Open stringer

Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex has extended their partnership with the Australian Open as the official stringer of the event in a new multi-year deal.

As the official stringer of the grand slam tournament, Yonex will offer racquet stringing services in the qualifying, main draw singles, doubles, mixed doubles, wheelchair and junior events.

The partnership extension was revealed in Tokyo, at a special Australian Open launch function.

Yonex executive officer of global marketing, Wataru Hirokawa said: “We look forward to taking advantage of our previous three years of experience as the official stringer to provide the highest calibre of stringing services to tennis players and fans worldwide.

“Yonex will offer five free restrings to every player per round to allow players to worry less about their gear and focus on performing at their best.

“We are proud to play a vital role in keeping the Australian Open known as the Happy Slam by players and fans.”

Tennis Australia CEO, Craig Tiley added: “Yonex is a great tennis brand, much-loved around the world, and a perfect fit for the Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific.

“At the Australian Open, our whole team works incredibly hard to provide exceptional service to the players and Yonex plays a key role in how we deliver.”

Yonex will have a team of world-class stringers at the Australian Open to maintain the high standard that the players expect.

Fans will be able to watch Yonex’s international stringing team in action at their base on the edge of Garden Square during the event in Melbourne, where more than 5,000 racquets are expected to be strung.
