World’s Strongest Man Competition Gains Official Beer Partner

World’s Strongest Man have announced that American brewing company, Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR), will be the Official Beer Partner of the 2022 SBD World’s Strongest Man competition.

The collaboration will unite the brands to create unique content across social media throughout the 2022 competition.

In addition, PBR will provide ice baths for the athletes, for quality rest and recuperation following the strenuous competition.

Every day of the competition, which spans from May 24th to the 29th, at Capitol Mall in Sacramento, California, WSM’s social channels will post a “PBR Celebration of the Day” video of a competitor’s celebration upon completing their event.

IMG VP of media, Rebecca Levin expressed her approval of the partnership.

“We’ve found our match in Pabst,” said Levin.

“The way they engage their fans with a clear, definitive voice, is something we’ve admired for a long time.

“Our social media teams have been direct messaging each other for a while now, so we’re thrilled to finally be able to bring this mutual admiration to the competition, in a fun way,” Levin said.

IMG is the company that owns and operates World’s Strongest Man and signed the deal with PBR.

PBR VP of marketing, Nick Reely commented that the pairing may seem unusual to some.

“The partnership between PBR and World’s Strongest Man is surprising, and I mean that in the best sense of the word,’ said Reeley.

“I don’t think many people would generally associate world-class athletes with beer, but there is actually a lot of synergy between our brands and our audiences.

“We’re gritty, we’re passionate, we happily exist in the fringe and are okay with not everyone understanding our attitude or approach, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

“We plan to have a lot of fun together, through online interactions but also in-person activations,’ said Reeley.

30 of the world’s top strongmen will face off in the series of events, including the first-ever Deadlift Ladder.

The new Deadlift Ladder test will consist of a series of incrementally heavier bars and a Bus Pull, where athletes will pull a brand-new Sacramento Regional Transit Bus weighing approximately 40,000 pounds (18,143.68 kg) in a race against the clock.
