Western Sydney Wanderers To Play At Bankwest Stadium For Next Ten-Years

Western Sydney Wanderers are on the look at for a marquee player, as they commit to a 10-year deal with Bankwest Stadium to play all their A-League home games at the new $330 million venue.

Missing out on the finals for the third consecutive year, Wanderers chief executive, John Tsatsimas, says the club will look to sign a star player for their return to wanderland.

“We expect success, we demand success, and our fans are no different. I think we’re all on the same page in that regard,” Tsatsimas said.

“No one wants to come second and no one wants to not make the finals.

“The board is quite clear in terms of, they want to be at the business end of the season and they were very successful in doing that for a long period of time.”

Bankwest Stadium features Australia’s first safe-standing terrace and the steepest stands in the country, which will be on display when the wanders take on English Championship side Leeds United in their first game at the venue on July 20th.

The team will now play all A-League, FFA Cup (from the quarter-finals stage) and AFC Champions League matches at the Parramatta facility.

Wanderers Chairman, Paul Lederer, said: “This has been many years in the making and we are delighted to return to our home ground from next season.

“We left no stone unturned to get the right deal for our members and fans and we are extremely thankful to the NSW Government for building this venue with football fans in mind.”

Bankwest Stadium, which is replacing the demolished Parramatta Stadium, will also serve as the home of NRL rugby league club the Parramatta Eels.
