Virtual Community Camps Announced In AFL’s Partnership Extension With AAMI

The Australian Football League (AFL) have announced AAMI as their official naming rights partner for the AAMI Community Camps and the AAMI Community Series.

The car insurer has been involved with the AFL since 2017, and have recently announced their expansion as major partner to both the AFL and the AFLW for the next three years.

AAMI Community Camps will provide over 4000 coaches across Australia an opportunity to learn off professional AFL coaches, and will be held virtually for the first time in its short history.

AFL executive general manager of customer and commercial, Kylie Rogers, said she is proud of the league to have found an innovative way to continue to get players involved within smaller communities.

“We’re thrilled to have AAMI extend its partnership of our elite competitions and welcome them on board as the naming rights partner of the AAMI Community Series and AAMI Community Camps, which has become a fan-favourite within grassroots communities across the country,” Rogers said.

“The AAMI Community Camps provide a perfect platform for communities and individuals across the country, no matter where they live, to get closer to the players and the game.

“While we have faced huger challenges as an industry over the past 12 months and were not able to take players out into communities this year, we have found a way to deliver the AAMI Community Camps to continue to strengthen the connection between our elite clubs and the wider community,” she said.

Virtual session have been implemented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim being reducing community interactions for players, and moving towards the virtual aspect with video sessions planned along with phone calls with local school students.

The AAMI Community Series sees every AFL team play one match in their home state before the season starts, with Rogers siting the importance of pre-season fixtures to all clubs.

“The AAMI Community Series is an important part of each AFL club’s preparation for the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with fans getting an early glimpse of their teams and players,” Rogers said.
