Top Super Rugby Pacific Partnerships: Waratahs, Fijian Drua, More

With the inaugural season of Super Rugby Pacific set to begin in February, here are the latest commercial partnerships from around the competition.

Super Rugby Pacific’s newest club, Fijian Drua, have announced a three-year partnership with New Balance, with New Balance’s elite teamwear partner, Belgravia Sports Apparel, to provide all on-field and training wear for the club.

Fijian Drua interim CEO, Brian Thorburn, said the Drua are the first Super Rugby Club to sign up to New Balance, joining several global sporting clubs.

“We extend a very warm welcome to New Balance and Belgravia Sports Apparel as they join our vuvale and become part of our historic Super Rugby journey,” Thorburn said.

“It is a massive boost for our fledgling club to have such an elite apparel partner.

“Our players simply cannot wait to step out onto the field wearing their New Balance gear, with its cutting-edge innovation and design features which will complement our fearless, fast running, free flowing playing style.

“We can’t wait to share our kit designs with Drua fans, which of course include the highly anticipated home and clash jerseys along with a range of other apparel for the team, coaching and club management staff.

“The on-field and training gear will all feature elements of our unique and distinct Drua brand which was released last week.

“Our fans will absolutely love the New Balance Drua merchandise, and we’re committed to making it available to fans as soon as we possibly can,” he said.

Elsewhere in the league, the Chiefs Rugby Club have announced Bartercard as the official partner of their 2022 Chiefs membership programme, offering the first 2,000 adult members 50% of the membership price paid back in free restaurant vouchers.

Bartercard national sponsorships manager, Ross Hamilton, said: “Bartercard are very excited to be partnering with the Chiefs membership programme.”

“We understand that whether you are a sports club or business, without fans, supporters or customers you have no club or business.

“Bartercard wish to thank our member businesses The Lawrenson Group Hamilton, The Good Home New Plymouth and Hennessys Rotorua for supporting this fantastic initiative,” Hamilton said.

The Highlanders have announced SBS Bank as their front of jersey sponsor ahead of the 2022 season, with the partnership to include branding and promotional opportunities at all Highlanders home and away games.

Meanwhile, the NSW Waratahs have announced People + Culture Strategies (PCS) have extended their platinum partnership for a further three years.

PCS founder and managing principal, Joydeep Hor, said: “We have had a wonderful relationship with the Waratahs now going back several years and we consider ourselves to be a part of the Waratahs family.”

“PCS has invested considerably across its philanthropic platforms and nowhere more so than in rugby at a range of levels.

“Our partnership with the Waratahs is multi-faceted and we want to be able to continue to share our wisdom and expertise in continuing to enhance the Waratahs as an organisation and employer of choice with a high-performance culture across the board.

“Rugby is at a very exciting time both nationally and at state level and we are looking forward to all that the next three years brings,” Hor said.
