The Sydney Swans have established a single-season club record for home attendance, attracting 33,844 aggregate fans across its NAB AFLW 2026 home fixtures with one match remaining.
The tally represents a 25 per cent year-on-year increase over total 2025 home attendance, placing Sydney at the top of the league with an average home gate of 6,769 spectators per match.
The attendance growth follows the wider league rollout of integrated AFL and AFLW double-header fixtures, which saw opening-fortnight AFLW attendance double across the competition compared to 2025.
A record crowd of 16,672 attended the Swans’ Round 2 double-header at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), surpassing the club’s previous home record of 8,264 set during its 2022 inaugural match at North Sydney Oval.
Additionally, the Sydney Derby against the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS drew 7,340 fans to Henson Park, establishing a venue record for AFLW competition.
Indicating how the club is utilising the venue data to negotiate expanded double-header allocations with AFL executive management for the 2027 season, Sydney Swans CEO, Matthew Pavlich, said: “The support we’ve seen for our AFLW team this season has been extraordinary, and the Club continues to set a high standard for the growth of the game in Sydney.”
“To have already surpassed last year’s total attendance by 25 per cent with another home game still to come, is a fantastic achievement.
“The success of double-headers is evident and we’re in discussions with the AFL on how we can expand on that success next season.
“We would love to see more opportunities for our members and fans to watch both teams on the same day,” Pavlich said.
The off-field attendance milestone aligns with strong competitive performance under first-year head coach Colin O’Riordan. The Swans hold a 7-3 record heading into the final two rounds of the regular season as the team targets its second finals series appearance.
The Swans will play their final regular-season home fixture against the West Coast Eagles at Henson Park on Sunday, aiming to surpass 40,000 total home attendees for the 2026 season.
