Surfing Australia, Harvey Norman Partnership To Support Grassroots

Surfing Australia has announced retail company, Harvey Norman, as their official lifestyle partner for the 2022/23 season, with the company using the partnership to support grassroots surfing.

The deal will see Harvey Norman compliment their support for the sport by backing boardrider clubs, as well as celebrating the pioneering of female surfers and providing a pathway for future stars.

Harvey Norman will launch the partnership at ‘The Hyundai Boardriders Battle’, before travelling the country to create the ‘Team Harvey Junior’ division and hold on-site consumer activations.

Additionally, the retailer will champion female surfers through a new mentoring camp, which will giving the most promising young surfers coaching and media training from the country’s best experts.

Commenting on the partnership, Surfing Australia head of partnerships, Clarissa Pike, said: “Harvey Norman has a long history of supporting Aussie sport and athletes.”

“They are truly passionate about sport development and have a strong track record of supporting women across all aspects of sport, from grassroots to the elite.

“We’re beyond thrilled to have them on board. They are a dream partner and very aligned to Surfing Australia’s core values.

“Not only are they one of the most trusted brands in Australia, but they are also committed to being more than just a logo sponsor; Every touchpoint reflects their objectives and they work hard to find authentic integration opportunities that make a tangible difference to the sport,” she said.

Harvey Norman, general manager sponsorships, Sam Waters, added: “Surfing Australia represents 215 Boardrider Clubs and over 120 Surf Schools nationwide.”

The announcement comes after Surfing Australia announced a new platform for female athletes.

Tickets are now available for the fourth annual Women In Sport Summit, which will provide real stories, skills and career moves, from administrators to athletes, and will give a platform for honest conversations and exclusive networking opportunities, with game-changing discussions about the growth, value and the future of women in sport.
