he Port Adelaide Football Club has announced a new multi-year partnership with KFC, with the fast-food restaurant brand to become the club’s new joint major partner.

Significantly, the deal marks the first time KFC has entered a major partnership with an AFL club, joining both GFG and MG as joint major partners of Port Adelaide.

Port Adelaide chairman, David Koch, said the club was excited to welcome another major partner for 2021.

“KFC is a much-loved brand in Australia, and Port Adelaide could not be prouder of this partnership,” Koch said.

“Given the challenges of 2020, it is great recognition of the future direction of our club that we can continue to attract great brands like KFC to Port Adelaide.

“KFC now joins GFG and MG as a joint major partner marking the first time in our history that we’ve had three joint major partners, all committed long term to the club.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome KFC to the Port Adelaide family.

“With the addition of KFC, we continue our strategic drive to broaden Port Adelaide’s reach and make ourselves a bigger player in the national and international market.

“I have said for many years footy should be fun and an enjoyable experience for the entire family.

“And you can tell from KFC’s campaigns that they don’t take themselves too seriously and are all about sharing fun and creating memorable moments with family and friends.

“They’re very much the loveable larrikins, and we can relate to that.

“We can’t wait to partner with KFC to bring the fun back into footy.

“We are very grateful for the support KFC has extended to Port Adelaide and the belief it has shown in our future.

“We look forward to working with them for many years to come,” he said.

KFC Australia chief marketing officer, Kristi Woolrych, said the brand hopes the partnership will help Port Adelaide extend on their success on the field in 2020.

“We’ve always known our fans love footy, so it’s very exciting to finally bring the two together,” Woolrych said.

“Port Adelaide has such a loyal and growing group of supporters, and we’re looking forward to the fun and excitement this partnership will bring.

“The club had an amazing season this year, and we’re hoping that with the support of The Colonel, they’ll be able to bring home the silverware in 2021,” she said.

As part of the deal, the KFC logo will feature on the front of Port Adelaide’s playing shorts and on the back of their jerseys above the players’ numbers.
