Port Adelaide Football Club, in collaboration with Credit Union SA, has unveiled an impactful initiative aimed at bolstering grassroots football in South Australia.

This initiative, known as the Credit Union SA Community Footy Raffle, seeks to empower local clubs by offering a modern online fundraising platform, accompanied by appealing prizes and a structured approach to fundraising.

Expressing his pride in this grassroot programme, chief executive of Port Adelaide, Matthew Richardson, said: “We’re proud of the Credit Union SA Community Footy Raffle initiative, and the role we can play to support community clubs and the growth of the game at grassroots level,”

“The program provides a complete fundraising solution for community clubs to support their football programs and drive participation.

“Increasing opportunities for junior players and their families to experience AFL games at Adelaide Oval is an integral part of fostering the sport in South Australia.

“The future of the AFL depends on cultivating the next generation of fans and players, and our commitment through this program supports the local clubs that are pivotal in introducing many to the game,” he said.

In addition to the fundraising benefits, each ticket purchased in the Community Footy Raffle offers buyers a chance to experience a live Port Adelaide AFL match.

Todd Roberts, chief executive of Credit Union SA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the broader connections that sport can foster within communities.

“We see the power that sport has in our community and how providing access can enrich the lives of kids and their families,” said Roberts.

“For us, it’s about more than just the sport; it’s about the opportunity for connection. We’re proud to be offering more South Australians the chance to thrive,” he said.

Recognising the pressing need to enhance grassroots engagement with the sport, both Port Adelaide and Credit Union SA are committed to ensuring that every participating club retains 100 per cent of the profits generated from the raffle.

This provision directly supports the clubs in sustaining their football programs and fostering community participation.

To further highlight and celebrate the importance of junior football, Port Adelaide will align its Round 18 match against the West Coast Eagles with this initiative, where the match will serve as a platform to honour young players and the clubs that nurture their development.

This initiative not only demonstrates the collaborative effort to strengthen community ties but also illustrates a strategic investment in the future of football within the state, reinforcing the foundations upon which the sport is built.
