Perth Builds Global Profile with Return of HSBC SVNS Rugby Event in 2025

Perth is set to solidify its position on the global sporting stage as it prepares to host the prestigious HSBC SVNS tournament for a second consecutive year in 2025. Following the success of the 2024 event, which attracted 48,000 fans over three days, the city will once again be the exclusive Australian host for the event at HBF Park from January 24 to 26.

The tournament showcases top rugby nations competing in a fast-paced format with seven players per side and seven-minute halves. Known for its carnival-like atmosphere, the event has strong appeal in key international markets for Western Australia, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, and the United States.

Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, highlighting Perth’s unique achievement in selling out the final day of competition in 2024. “HSBC SVNS has a vibrant, party-like atmosphere that attracts visitors from across the globe,” she said. “Hosting such events is a cornerstone of our tourism strategy, driving significant visitor spending and boosting local businesses in hospitality, accommodation, and tourism.”

The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors from outside the state, providing a substantial economic boost and reinforcing the Western Australian Government’s vision of a year-round calendar of events. With a global broadcast reach, the tournament will further enhance Western Australia’s profile as an international sporting destination.

Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman emphasised the significance of hosting the SVNS again, noting its role in promoting rugby among locals and inspiring future talent. “Securing consecutive hosting rights is a fantastic outcome for Western Australia. It demonstrates our capability as a world-leading host of major sporting events and showcases our state-of-the-art infrastructure,” he stated.

Pre-sale tickets for the 2025 event will be available starting August 13, 2024, with general ticket sales beginning on August 27, 2024. For more information and ticket purchases, visit www.SVNS.COM.

Perth’s hosting of the HSBC SVNS tournament is a strategic move to leverage major sporting events to build its international presence, mirroring the success of other Australian cities in attracting global attention and tourism.
