NSW Rugby Union and ACPE Announce Partnership

New South Wales Rugby Union (NSWRU) has announced a new partnership with the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), a leading institution in sport and education, to strengthen pathways for aspiring athletes, coaches, and sports professionals in New South Wales.

The partnership aims to foster the next generation of rugby players, coaches, administrators, and sport scientists by offering education programs tailored to the needs of the football community.

Commenting on the partnership, NSWRU CEO, Peter Murphy, said: “This partnership with ACPE represents a significant step in aligning rugby development with education and career pathways.”

“It allows us to support our grassroots athletes beyond the game and help them build futures within the sports industry,” Murphy said.

ACPE CEO, Debbie Le Roux, added: “We’re thrilled to join forces with NSW Rugby Union to empower athletes through education.”

“Together, we will create an environment where players can thrive academically while pursuing their rugby careers,” Le Roux said.

This strategic collaboration will see NSWRU and ACPE working together to support football talent in both on and off the field in an initiative to combine sport and academic opportunity.

NSWRU and ACPE will collaborate on:

  • Educational opportunities for players and staff, including scholarships and flexible study programsCoaching and sports science internships and placements
  • Community and school rugby programs
  • Research initiatives supporting athlete welfare and development
