The NFL has unveiled its Class of 2025 International Player Pathway (IPP), featuring 14 athletes from 13 countries. The IPP, launched in 2017, identifies elite international athletes, training them in American football at Florida’s IMG Academy. Participants showcase their skills to NFL scouts, aiming for roster opportunities. To date, 41 international athletes have joined NFL teams through the program, with 23 currently active.
Participants will train for 10 weeks at IMG Academy in Florida, culminating in Pro Day evaluations in March 2025.
The Class of 2025 includes athletes from diverse sports and backgrounds, highlighting the NFL’s commitment to global football development.
Australian rugby union athlete, Jordan Petaia, has been announced as a participant in the 2025 IPP. The 24-year-old, with 31 caps for the Wallabies, will transition to American football after a decorated rugby career, including two Rugby World Cup appearances.
Petaia’s selection highlights Australia’s growing involvement in the NFL, bolstered by the recent establishment of an NFL Academy on the Gold Coast. The academy focuses on developing talent across the Asia-Pacific region, offering education and football training.
The complete IPP Class of 2025 will be announced soon, continuing the NFL’s efforts to globalise the sport.
