New Sponsorships Help Provide Football Pathways In Western Australia
Football West, the governing body of football in Western Australia, has received a financial boost from a raft of new sponsors, whilst also appointing a new Chairman to lead the future of football across WA.
South Korean motor company, Hyundai, has committed to a substantial three-year partnership that will see them support numerous programs and play a significant role in helping Football West grow the game across the state.
The Hyundai brand is already synonymous with football right around the world, from FIFA and the World Cup to Chelsea FC, Atletico de Madrid, AS Roma in Europe, naming rights holder to the Hyundai A-League and now:

- Major Partner of the WA Community Football Fund
Hyundai will launch the “All Dai, Every Dai” community football raffle with $50,000 worth of prizes, including a brand-new seven-seater Santa Fe.
Clubs that participate are guaranteed to profit – because 100% of proceeds they raise from selling raffle tickets, will remain with the club, which means the more tickets they sell, the more they make.
Football West has also partnered with Gold Fields, one of the world’s largest gold mining firms, to become the official Regional Football Program partner.
Gold Fields is already the name sponsor of all of Football West’s State Teams, but the added commitment will see a growth in football clinics, school visits, coaching and referee courses and development and inclusive programs right across regional Western Australia.
It will also provide financial support to employ Football Wests first Regional Development Officer in the Goldfields.
This support has been welcomed by Football West’s newly elected chairman, Sherif Andrawes.
Mr Andrawes, who is the Global and National Practice Leader – Natural Resources for BDO, has a long-time involvement with football in Western Australia as a former President and Life Member of East Fremantle Soccer Club and will replace Liam Twigger who retired after serving ten years on the Board, including six years as Chair.
“Community football has grown significantly across Western Australia, particularly with female and regional participants,” Mr Andrawes said.
“Over 230,000 people are getting involved each week across the State through the hard work and dedication of clubs and volunteers, and we know that the sport is in a strong position.”
“It is also exciting to see the WA game positioned strongly in Asia through our recent exchanges with China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, including the partnership with the Shanghai FA.
“These exchanges provide great opportunities for players and coaches, but also will drive investment into the game,” Mr Andrawes said.
However, with the popularity of the game at record heights, Mr Andrawes recognised the work ahead for Football West and the game more broadly in WA.
“With any growth there comes challenges, and we are focused on delivering the resources and providing support to clubs and volunteers that will make the game more accessible for all.”
“Football in WA has not received its fair share of investment compared with other major sporting codes, and without this investment into facilities and programs, there is a real risk that Western Australian players will miss out.”.
Mr Andrawes will be joined Will Golsby as newly elected Deputy Chairman.
