Mastercard launches Web 3.0 trivia game for UEFA Champions League fans

Mastercard, a long-standing partner of Europe’s premier club soccer tournament, the UEFA Champions League, has announced an exciting new initiative for football fans.

In collaboration with the UCL, Mastercard has launched a cutting-edge Web 3.0-based trivia game, offering fans an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the tournament and win exclusive prizes.

The trivia game, designed to enhance fan engagement and celebrate the passion for football, will take place ahead of Tuesday fixtures. Fans from select countries, including France, Spain, Germany, UK, Italy, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina, will have the chance to participate. To unlock the quiz and claim any prizes won, participants will utilise a non-fungible token (NFT), adding an innovative twist to the gaming experience.

Winners of each round will be rewarded with coveted match tickets and will earn a spot on the leaderboard. However, the ultimate prize awaits the overall winner, who will receive tickets to the UEFA Champions League final. The announcement of the final winner is set to take place after the semi-finals on April 30.

Mastercard’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League spans over three decades, showcasing the company’s enduring commitment to the sport and its fans. Through this initiative, Mastercard aims to leverage its Web 3.0 platform, ‘pass to priceless’, to connect with football enthusiasts beyond the field and offer them unique and unforgettable experiences.

“As a Uefa Champions League partner of 30 years, we know first-hand the unwavering passion that football fans have for the game, so we’re excited to leverage our Web 3.0 platform, pass to priceless, to put their passion and knowledge to the ultimate test,” offered Beatrice Cornacchia, Mastercard’s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Europe.

“Through our football-focused trivia competition, we are bringing together the football community beyond the field, connecting them to priceless possibilities and celebrating the very best of the UEFA Champions League.”

As the Champions League action resumes with the commencement of the round of 16 fixtures this week, fans can anticipate matches and engaging experiences both on and off the field. The grand final is scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium on June 1.
