Manchester United Takeover Bids Not High Enough for Glazers to Sell

The Glazer family, owners of Manchester United, have received bids from potential buyers, including Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Jim Ratcliffe, however, according to reports, the offers are not high enough to meet their expectations.

This news comes after the club set a deadline for potential buyers to express their interest, which saw several of high-profile investors enter the bidding process.

Despite mounting criticism from fans and protests against their largely absent American owners, the Glazer family has been reluctant to sell.

Avram Glazer is said to still feel “emotionally invested” in the club, but other family members, including Kevin, Bryan, Edward, and Darcie Glazer, are reportedly keen to sell their 69% stake.

The sale of Manchester United is expected to break the record for the most expensive sale of a sports club, with the current record held by the Denver Broncos, which sold for $4.6 billion.

However, with the current bids falling short of expectations, it remains to be seen whether a deal will be struck.

Additionally, an American hedge fund, Elliott Investment Management, is also said to be considering entering the bidding process and are reportedly open to the idea of the current owners remaining in charge in Manchester.
