LaLiga Announces New Docuseries With Netflix

LaLiga and Netflix are excited to bring fans an unprecedented look at the world of Spanish football, including exclusive access to the players, coaches, and staff of the league’s top teams through a new docuseries.

The first season will cover the 2023-24 LaLiga season, and with post-production could be released in the final quarter of 2024.

Commenting on the announcement, LaLiga executive director, Óscar Mayo, said: “For LaLiga, to be the star of Netflix’s first sports series in Spain is a unique opportunity to take our football beyond the fans, to share with the world the excitement of the sport we love, and the chance for all our fans to see LaLiga from a totally different angle.”

Netflix Unscripted & Documentary Series director (Spain), Álvaro Díaz, added: “At Netflix, we have always been committed to bringing must watch series and films to our members around the world.”

“We are very proud and excited to share this project with LaLiga, which is an unprecedented opportunity to experience the excitement of one of the most exciting sporting competitions on the planet, first-hand,” he said.

The partnership between LaLiga and Netflix is just the latest example of the growing popularity of sports docuseries, with the success of shows like Last Chance U, All or Nothing, QB1 and Drive to Survive.

The announcement comes after LaLiga and Banijay Iberia partnered to launch LaLiga Studios.
