Kookaburras Win Inaugural FIH Pro League As Hockey Australia Announces Two New Executives

The Kookaburras have claimed the inaugural FIH Pro League trophy, while Hockey Australia has appointed to new executives.

A 3-2 victory against Belgium in the final has resulted in the Kookaburras winning the inaugural FIH Pro League and becoming the new world number ones.

A late surge from Belgium with a penalty corner wasn’t enough to break the Aussie’s defence, as they held their nerves in the final two minutes of the match to become the new champions.

In the same week, Hockey Australia announced two new appointments to the Executive Team with Tim Cherry and Lauren Watt joining the organisation.

Tim Cherry joins HA in the role of General Manager – Commercial, Communication and Events with HA CEO, Matt Favier, saying the role was critical to HA’s ambitions to continue to pursue commercial opportunities, to increase the visibility of hockey and in supporting the delivery of commercially viable, major events.

“Tim has extensive experience in the commercial and event space having spent time in motor racing, basketball with the Melbourne Tigers and the AFL with the Essendon Football Club,” Favier said.

“His proven ability to work in a senior leadership role in such dynamic organisations, coupled with his commercial experience made him the obvious choice.

Lauren Watt joins Hockey Australia in the role of General Manager – Finance, HR and Administration.

“With a career that includes the role of Finance Manager with the Geelong Cats, and Assurance Manager with Ernst and Young in Melbourne, Lauren brings an excellent background in finance and accounting as well as a wonderful insight and exposure to elite sport through the Geelong Cats,” CEO Matt Favier said.
