Komo, Commonwealth Games Australia Launch Digital Fan Hub

A partnership between digital engagement platform supplier, Komo and Commonwealth Games Australia will see the launch of a digital fan hub ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The deal will see the pair use the audience engagement MarTech SaaS platform to create the ‘Team Aus Hub’, which will include live polls, trivia, quizzes, and competitions aimed to offer immersive experiences for fans.

Additionally, the digital hub will be used to expand and retain its community beyond the games by using media-rich tools including a countdown to the Commonwealth campaign, interactive content, news, and prizes for users.

Commonwealth Games Australia Marketing and communications manager, Ren Thompson commented: “We have placed a significant focus on driving digital experiences over the last two years particularly when it comes to fan engagement and retention, so it was important for us to partner with a company that is best in class.”

“Using Komo as a fan engagement platform allows us to broaden this fanbase and maintain a connected community for years beyond the games,” said Thompson.

The partnership builds upon Komo’s portfolio as a digital engagement partner of organisations such as the Australian Olympic Committee, Williams F1, A-Leagues, WBE, Budget, McDonalds, and Fox Sports.

Komo CEO, Joel Steel said the ‘Team Aus Hub’ will provide fans with an additional digital dimension to the event.

“It is all about creating engagement between the team and the Australian community and the Komo platform makes that easy, by enhancing the fan experience,” Steele said.

“The Komo platform harnesses gamification to cut through the noise and helps build loyalty between the fans and the brands,” he said.

The partnership comes after Australian radio rights for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games were given to SEN in early June.
