Global sports and entertainment agency Octagon has announced the appointment of Kim Anderson as the new Managing Director for Australia, effective immediately. Based in Sydney, Anderson will steer the agency’s vision and growth as Australia prepares for a decade of marquee sporting events, culminating in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics.

A Proven Leader in Global Sports Marketing

Anderson brings over 20 years of experience in sports and entertainment, including her pivotal role in the successful bid and groundbreaking marketing campaign for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The event set new benchmarks for women’s sport and elevated global fan engagement, earning accolades as a transformative moment in sports history.

“Kim’s expertise and track record of leading industry-defining campaigns make her the ideal leader for this exciting chapter in Octagon Australia’s journey,” said Joanne Warnes, Managing Director of Octagon APAC. “As the eyes of the sporting world turn to Australia, her leadership will help our clients navigate the intersection of sport, culture, and fandom, creating campaigns that resonate deeply with audiences.”

Guiding Octagon Through Australia’s Sports Golden Era

Australia’s sporting calendar is entering an unparalleled phase, featuring events like the 2025 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the 2027 Rugby World Cup, and the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics. Anderson’s appointment signals Octagon’s commitment to leveraging these opportunities to deliver innovative campaigns for brands, sports bodies, and fans.

Reflecting on her new role, Anderson said: “Octagon has a global reputation for crafting campaigns that leave an indelible mark. I’ve seen firsthand the extraordinary work the team delivers and am thrilled to join a group dedicated to pushing the boundaries of how brands and organisations engage with sport and entertainment. With Australia’s unique position on the global stage over the next decade, Octagon is primed to lead the way in shaping how sport intersects with culture and fandom.”

A Career Rooted in Innovation and Creativity

Anderson’s career spans some of the most iconic organisations in sports and entertainment. Before her work on the FIFA Women’s World Cup, she held leadership roles as Global Marketing Director at Smart Design in New York and London, and Marketing Director for TEDxSydney. Her early career saw her contribute to major events and organisations, including the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust, Sydney FC, and the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG).
