Gold Coast Titans Enter New Era as Consortium Joins Ownership

The Gold Coast Titans have entered a new phase of growth, welcoming a consortium of high-profile rugby league, media, business, and entertainment figures as new equity partners to support the club’s long-term ambitions across the NRL and NRLW.

Major shareholders Brett and Rebecca Frizelle will retain majority ownership, with the expanded group positioned to enhance the club’s football operations, commercial performance, and community engagement.

The Frizelles said the consortium marks an important step in building a sustainable, community-connected club capable of consistent on-field success.

“This opportunity has united a remarkable group of experienced leaders who share our passion for rugby league, the Titans, and our commitment to the region.”

“Their investment and expertise will strengthen every dimension of the club.

“We’re positioned to achieve premiership success, strengthen community connections, and build a club that makes every supporter proud,” the Frizelles said.

The shareholder group includes prominent rugby league identities Matt and Trish Johns, former Kangaroos and Maroons captain Gorden Tallis alongside Jemma Elder, investigative journalist Hedley Thomas and Ruth Mathewson, entertainment industry operators Billy and Jackie Cross, and long-standing Gold Coast business leaders Michael and Jodie Atkins.

Each brings sector-specific expertise, from media influence and fan engagement to elite sporting culture, events, and commercial development.

Johns said their involvement reflects confidence in the Titans’ growth trajectory and the broader evolution of the NRL.

“We’re investing because we believe in the club’s potential and in the Frizelle family’s leadership.”

Tallis highlighted the historical significance of premiership-winning players taking ownership roles, adding that the group aims to support the Titans’ regional impact and pathway development.

The consortium is expected to contribute across strategic planning and community engagement, with governance structures remaining unchanged pending final ARLC approval.

Members will work alongside the board and executive leadership on initiatives from 2026 onward.
