The French Golf Federation and L’Equipe, the prominent free-to-air digital terrestrial channel, have joined forces to acquire domestic broadcast rights for the upcoming two seasons of the US women’s golf’s LPGA Tour.
The LPGA Tour will be accessible on various platforms in France, including L’Équipe live, Journal du Golf TV and ffgolf TV, offering free-to-air coverage for the 2024 and ’25 seasons. Fans in France can look forward to viewing a total of 30 LPGA tournaments, featuring prominent events like the Chevron Championship and the Women’s PGA Championship, with 300 hours of live broadcasts.
The LPGA Tour boasts the participation of several talented French players, including the world’s No.3-ranked golfer, Céline Boutier, along with Perrine Delacour and Agathe Laisné.
The 2024 LPGA season is set to kick off with the Tournament of Champions in Florida on Thursday, January 18, marking the beginning of an exciting line-up of events for golf enthusiasts this season.
“The main mission of the federation is to develop golf in France,” said Pascal Grizot, President of the French Golf Federation.
“Participating in the acquisition of broadcasting rights alongside the L’Équipe group and the Journal du golf represented an opportunity to promote women’s golf to as many people as possible at a particularly favourable time.
“The growing interest in Céline Boutier’s results and the prospect of the Olympic Games are indeed levers to expose our sport more widely.”
Additionally, The LPGA recently inked a new two-year rights deal with major sports broadcaster ESPN in the US, solidifying its broadcasting presence through to the 2025 season.
