Former LaLiga athlete, Frédéric Kanouté, has made an appeareance at the site launch of the new LaLiga x Bloomsbury Football project, drawing attention from a range of local and national media representatives.
The collaboration, which was launched back in 2022, exemplifies the commitment of LaLiga and its member clubs, alongside Fundación LaLiga, to support the vital work of Bloomsbury Football.
The trio, Frédéric Kanouté, Keegan Pierce (director of international relations at LaLiga), and Charlie Hyman (founder of Bloomsbury Football), engaged the media in discussions highlighting the expanding partnership and its significance in bolstering grassroots football across the UK.
Kanouté emphasised the persistent financial barriers in football, underscoring the critical role LaLiga clubs play in this initiative as he highlighted the importance of fostering positive values within local communities and leveraging sport as a catalyst for social inclusion.
The organisation is known for engaging over 5,000 people in London each week, fostering community through football participation.
The new facility will be home to teams supported by several prominent LaLiga clubs, including Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Deportivo Alavés, Racing Club de Ferrol, RC Celta, RC Deportivo, UD Las Palmas, and Valencia CF.
Meanwhile, teams affiliated with CA Osasuna, CD Leganés, CD Tenerife, Granada CF, RCD Espanyol, Real Racing Club, SD Eibar, and Sevilla FC will continue their activities at the original site in Acland Burghley, North London.
This season marks a significant expansion for the project, featuring a new facility and a record 16 LALIGA clubs participating, supported further by CVC through the CVC Foundation, this collaboration not only reinforces LALIGA’s commitment to grassroots football, but also enhances the opportunities available for young players in the UK.
