The 2024 FIBA 3×3 World Tour marked a record-breaking year, solidifying 3×3 basketball as a global leader in urban sports. Over 17 events in iconic locations like Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, and the season finale in Hong Kong, the sport captivated audiences both in person and online. Fans worldwide engaged with a season that fused sport, music, and culture, delivering unprecedented results in reach and interaction.
Social media metrics skyrocketed, with impressions increasing by 46.4% to 366 million and views surging by 76% to 352 million compared to 2023. Engagements also rose to 12 million, underscoring the sport’s appeal to a growing global fanbase. These achievements were complemented by a record number of broadcast partnerships spanning over 150 countries, ensuring accessibility across all continents.
The competition also highlighted the strength of its professional circuit. Over 300 players participated in the 22 Challenger events, showcasing emerging talent and new teams vying for World Tour prominence. Alex Sanchez, Managing Director of FIBA 3×3, attributed this success to the sport’s growing global footprint and the support of partners and organisers, emphasising that 2024 was a “landmark year.”
With plans already in place for a similarly packed 2025 season, the FIBA 3×3 World Tour will kick off in Utsunomiya on April 26-27. This year’s achievements set a strong foundation for continued growth in fan engagement and competitive excellence.
