A combination of eight NBA stars including Donovan Mitchell and Zach LaVine make up the list, along with the NFL’s Julian Edelman, US soccer star Allie Long, and WNBA player Brittney Griner to round out the Facebook Gaming athlete roster.

The partnered athletes will have the opportunities to choose their gaming title to compete on and be able to share their live gaming content on their individual channels, inviting their own friends to join in.

Facebook has announced alongside the partnerships, they will contribute US$20,000 to each of the athlete’s choice of charity, with viewers of the gaming live-streams encouraged to donate money to selected charities.

Facebook head of athlete sports partnerships, Evan Shugerman, said the athletes will help in Facebook’s efforts to continue raising money for COVID-19 relief and social justice issues ongoing in the United States.

“Athletes continue to be remarkable forces for good on social media and we’re excited for this particular group to use Facebook Gaming this summer to entertain fans and raise money for incredibly important causes,” Shugerman said.
