ngland’s Football Association (FA) has announced England men’s and women’s senior players have been receiving equal pay for representing their country since January 2020.
The announcement came after Brazil joined Australia, New Zealand, and Norway in the group committed to providing equal pay to their men and women players for international appearances.
The FA released a statement to the PA news agency confirming all England national players have been receiving the same match fee when playing international games since January.
“The FA pays its women’s players exactly the same as their male counterparts for representing England, both in terms of match fees and match bonuses,” the FA said.
“This parity has been in place since January 2020,” they said.
When announcing they had committed to equal pay for both men and women players, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president, Rogerio Caboclo, said all players will get the same daily rate during international appearances, along with equal prize money.
“Since March of this year, CBF has made an equal value in terms of prizes and daily rates between men’s and women’s football,” Caboclo said.
“That is, the (women’s) players earn the same thing as the (men’s) players during the calls.
“What they (the men) receive, women also receive.
“What they will gain by conquering or by staging the Olympics next year will be the same as the men will have,” he said.
