CBS Sports Kicks Off New 24/7 Digital Soccer Channel

American TV network and Paramount-owned, CBS Sports, has announced the launch of a free, first-of-its-kind digital 24-hour channel dedicated to football next month.

The new CBS Sports Golazo Network will follow the sport through live broadcast programming, exclusive analytics and highlights, podcasting, studio shows, and documentaries, as networks continue to explore different platforms in the sports media ecology.

Additionally, the network debuts its flagship studio show, ‘Morning Footy’, a daily two-hour program that will see a studio panel discuss the sport’s most-talked-about storylines.

The network capitalises on its existing soccer rights to the Europa League, UEFA Champions League, and Europa Conference men’s club competitions, alongside the top-tier men’s leagues in Italy, Scotland, Argentina, and Brazil.

Commenting on the new channel, CBS Sports Executive VP digital, Jeff Gerttula, said: “Interest in soccer has never been stronger.”

“By launching a first-of-its-kind streaming network in the U.S. dedicated to soccer globally, CBS Sports Golazo Network provides a tremendous growth opportunity by delivering unprecedented, round-the-clock coverage for passionate soccer fans.

“CBS Sports Golazo Network capitalizes on our existing soccer rights by building free audiences around CBS Sports and Pluto TV platforms while driving new subscribers and enhancing the sports experience for Paramount+,” he said.

The digital channel will be free for fans to stream on the Paramount+ and Pluto TV streaming services, as well as on the CBS website and app, on April 11.

This announcement comes after CBS secured a broadcast partnership extension with BIG3 last year.
