Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, the Boston Red Sox, have entered a partnership with Massachusetts-based life insurer, Mass Mutual.
The ten-year deal sees Mass Mutual become the official jersey patch partner of the Red Sox, where their logo will feature on the sleeve of Red Sox match-day uniforms.
Mass Mutual will also have select digital rights and signage across the Red Sox’s Fenway Park, including above the centre-field scoreboard.
Both Mass Mutual and the Red Sox will combine their charitable resources to improve the Fenway Park Learning Lab, an educational facility that aims to provide opportunities for all Boston public school children.
Discussing the patch partnership, Red Sox president, Sam Kennedy, said: “The Red Sox jersey is one of the most visible and central representations of the club, and it was important to us for the partner featured on it to have a deep understanding and appreciation for this region and community.”
“MassMutual is the perfect match for us because they have strong Massachusetts roots and an appetite similar to our own to collaborate well beyond the jersey patch.”
“While their logo will feature prominently at Fenway Park with signage in centerfield and their logo on the sleeve of our jerseys, it’s the work we will do together in our community that will truly bring to light our shared values,” he said.
The Red Sox are the latest franchise to announce a jersey patch deal after the MLB approved uniform sponsors in April.
