Betta returns to Supercars as official sponsor of CAMCAT camera

A name synonymous with one of the most memorable Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 victories, returns to Mount Panorama this year, with Betta Home Living signing on as the official partner of the high-speed CAMCAT camera along the main straight.

Betta is best-known to Virgin Australia Supercars Champions fans as the major sponsor of Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup’s 2006 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 winning Ford Falcon.

That victory will go down as one of the most emotional in the history of the Great Race, with the Tripe Eight duo claiming the first ever Peter Brock Trophy, less than one month after the legend’s passing.

The high-speed CAMCAT camera will be used again this year following its introduction to the event last year.

Developed in Austria, CAMCAT will cover 650m at Mount Panorama between the Bathurst Museum on the outside of Murray’s Corner and Hell Corner from Thursday afternoon.

Capable of reaching 150km/h, it will deliver unique shots along the front straight, pitlane, the grid and the podium.

CAMCAT has been used in every Olympics since the 2002 Winter Games, is prominent in Ski Jumping World Cup coverage and has been part of motorsport broadcasts including Formula 1, the Le Mans 24 Hours and Formula E in Europe.

Jason Ireland, National Marketing Manager, BSR Group said: “Partnering with Supercars again is like two old friends coming together.

“Bathurst can be won and lost in pit lane and these moments go down in history.

“By partnering with Supercars to provide the Betta CAMCAT, fans at home are able to be a part of the action from Pit Straight and Pit lane like never before.”

Adrian Mitchell, Chief Marketing Officer, BSR Group said: “We’re extremely excited to be partnering with Supercars once more.”

“There is a long history between our two brands, with many great memories, culminating in the Betta Electrical 888 car winning Bathurst in 2006.”

A total of 198 cameras includes onboards across all 26 Supercars and selected entries in support categories, chopper cam and the Betta CAMCAT.

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will run from 4-7 October at the iconic Mount Panorama with tickets available through Ticketek.
