BBC Announce Coverage Plan for Upcoming Men’s Ashes Series

The BBC has confirmed an expansion of their broadcast and digital content offerings for the upcoming men’s Ashes series, providing fans with extensive coverage across radio, streaming, podcasts, and social channels.

Test Match Special (TMS) will deliver ball-by-ball commentary throughout the series, supported by daily highlights available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. The broadcaster will also feature in-play video clips across digital platforms and BBC Sport social media, aimed at ensuring fans can follow the action in real time regardless of time zone.

Sharing how the coverage reflects the event’s stature in sporting culture, director of BBC Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, said: “Whether you’re staying up through the night or catching up the next morning, we have got you covered,”

“The Ashes deserves coverage befitting its place in British sporting folklore and we can’t wait to bring you every big wicket, innings and story,” Kay-Jelski said.

A new daily Ashes debrief show hosted by Alex Hartley will be available on iPlayer, while the TMS Podcast team, including Jonathan Agnew, Michael Vaughan and colleagues, will release daily episodes during the series. Andy Zaltzman will also contribute a daily TMS Ashes Quiz podcast offering a lighter perspective on the tour.

Additional coverage will include special episodes from Tailenders, hosted by Sir James Anderson, Greg James and Felix White, recorded at the conclusion of each Test. No Balls: The Cricket Podcast, with Kate Cross and Hartley, will also feature Ashes-focused episodes throughout the series.

International listeners will be able to access Stumped with Alison Mitchell and Jim Maxwell via the BBC World Service, while For the Love of Cricket with Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad will be part of the broadcast lineup.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport chief cricket reporter Stephan Shemilt will explore the rivalry’s defining narratives in a special series, From the Ashes, featuring former players including Michael Vaughan, Stuart Broad and Ryan Harris.

In addition, Isa Guha, Sir Alastair Cook and Jonathan Agnew will select their TMS Ashes Top 10 moments, and Cook will reflect on England’s last Ashes victory in Australia in a dedicated feature titled How to Win the Ashes in Australia.
