Aston Villa has reportedly inked a long-term kit deal with global sportswear giant Adidas, commencing from the 2024-25 season. The multi-million-pound agreement is set to encompass the club’s men’s and women’s teams, as well as its academy.
This deal marks the conclusion of Villa’s existing multi-year kit partnership with UK-based sportswear brand Castore, valued at approximately UK£3 million (US$3.8 million) per year from the start of the 2022-23 season. However, the collaboration faced challenges since September, when players expressed concerns about the ‘wet look’ shirts impacting performance by retaining sweat.
The transition to Adidas is purportedly steered by Villa’s owner, Nassef Sawiris, who holds a seven percent stake in Adidas. While the deal awaits approval through the Premier League’s related-party transaction process, no significant hurdles are anticipated.
Adidas has also expanded its footprint as it officially becomes the match ball supplier for the Saudi Pro League. Set to take effect next month, the deal is initially slated to run until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, is enjoying a watershed Premier League campaign – sailing along in second place behind Liverpool with 13 wins and three draws from 20 matches. Only in their fifth season back from a stint in the second-tier Championship, Villa are eyeing off their first top-four finish, which would secure a UEFA Champions League debut and resultant windfall in 2024-25.
Aston Villa’s season just keeps getting better 😍
The club have now agreed a deal with Adidas to takeover their kits from next season, after numerous issues with Castore.
