ANZ Secures Global Partnership Expansion and Unveils ‘ANZ Arena’ for AO26

ANZ has announced a multi-year global agreement with Tennis Australia, ascending to the position of Official Bank of the Australian Open.

The expansion builds on a 16-year history between the two organisations and marks a strategic investment in the bank’s sports marketing portfolio following its recent acquisition of Suncorp Bank.

Highlighting the bank’s commitment to creating world-class experiences, ANZ group executive, Institutional, Mark Whelan, said: “The Australian Open is one of Australia’s most iconic events, and ANZ Arena will give fans and players a world-class experience.”

He added that the partnership also strengthens ANZ’s presence in Queensland through its role as Presenting Partner of the Brisbane International.

The arena’s physical identity has been enhanced with commissioned murals featuring Australian tennis legends, including Alicia Molik and ANZ Ambassador Dylan Alcott AO.

Expressing the personal significance of the venue, 2022 Australian of the Year, Alcott, added: “Show Court 3 holds some of my most memorable moments. It was the first ever show court at the AO that I played on and seeing it evolve into ANZ Arena is really special.”

Tennis Australia, CEO, Craig Tiley, noted that the multi-year agreement reflects a shared commitment to the game’s “past, present and future.”

The centrepiece of the renewed partnership is the rebranding of the iconic Show Court 3 at Melbourne Park to ANZ Arena.

The venue, which has hosted legendary moments including Lleyton Hewitt’s Grand Slam debut in 1997, will serve as the primary stage for the AO26 qualifying competition and main draw matches.

In a move to enhance fan engagement, the organisation confirmed that ANZ Arena will remain accessible to all attendees via a standard Ground Pass, ensuring the high-energy atmosphere remains inclusive for the broader community.

By integrating local art through the Jacky Winter Group, with illustrator Nigel Buchanan providing the inaugural portraits, the program ensures that ANZ Arena remains a recognisable cultural and sporting landmark.
