The AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ has hit a benchmark, with the first ticket allocation for the CommBank Matildas’ Group Stage clash against IR Iran at Gold Coast Stadium on 5 March now officially sold out.

It marks the first match of the tournament to reach this milestone, reinforcing the strength of demand and the growing appetite for elite women’s football across Australia.

The Gold Coast fixture is one of several high-profile matches to take place across three host cities Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney as the tournament brings together 12 of Asia’s top football nations for 27 matches from 1–21 March.

Local organising committee chief operating officer, Sarah Walsh, said the early sellout reflects the competition’s significance and the public’s enthusiasm.

“The response from fans has been phenomenal. To see the first ticket allocation exhausted already shows the incredible passion for women’s football and what this tournament means to Australians.”

“We know this will be a record-breaking tournament showcasing world-class football and unforgettable atmospheres,” Walsh said.

Queensland’s ministers emphasised the role of major sporting events in tourism, community engagement and participation growth, with Sport Minister, Tim Mander noting the Matildas’ impact on youth sport participation across the state. Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the city was preparing to welcome strong national support and the economic uplift that comes with it.

Tickets remain available for other matches at Gold Coast Stadium, including IR Iran’s fixtures against Korea Republic (2 March) and the Philippines (8 March), as well as a highly anticipated meeting between the Philippines and Korea Republic on 5 March.

The venue will also host critical play-off matches on 19 March, determining qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™.

Strong ticket demand has also been recorded in Perth and Sydney, particularly for the tournament opener between Australia and the Philippines on 1 March at Perth Stadium, and the Matildas’ International Women’s Day clash with Korea Republic on 8 March at Stadium Australia.

With ticket prices starting at $20 for adults and $10 for children, organisers are encouraging fans to secure seats to remaining matches while availability remains. Further ticket release information is accessible via the tournament newsletter.
