London Broncos Commit to Super League Return Following Promotion Setback

The London Broncos have reaffirmed their long-term commitment to returning to the Super League following the Rugby Football League’s (RFL) latest promotion decision.

While acknowledging the disappointment of not being promoted for the 2026 season, the club has expressed belief in its direction, leadership, and ongoing mission to strengthen Rugby League’s presence in London.

Emphasising that the outcome will serve as motivation rather than a setback, Club leadership, including Rugby League legend, and senior executives, Darren Lockyer, said:

“While we are naturally disappointed the London Broncos have not been promoted to the Super League and respect the process the RFL ran, our belief in this project and our direction as a club will not waver.”

“The game of Rugby League needs a strong London team, and we will not stop until we return our club to the top level of the game.

“Darren Lockyer and I are determined people, and yesterday’s decision will serve as strong motivation to drive our success in 2026 and prove people wrong.

“Our goal now is to win the Championship, strengthen every area of the organisation, increase our grading points across the board, and ensure that when we do reach Super League, we are ready to compete from day one,” Lockyer said.

The club also congratulated the teams promoted for 2026 while reaffirming its conviction that London deserves a strong, sustainable Super League presence — one that reflects the city’s global sporting stature and diversity.

“Congratulations to the clubs promoted for 2026, but London deserves a strong and competitive Super League presence, and we are committed to making that a reality.”

“We believe in London — as a city and as a key location for the game globally,” Lockyer continued.

The London Broncos closed their message with a rallying call for fans and new supporters alike to unite behind the club’s next chapter.

“We call upon all the fans in London, as well as new supporters and members, to join us on the ride back to the Super League as soon as possible,” he concluded.
