The upcoming international friendly between the Subway Socceroos and the United States is set to take place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado on Tuesday, 14 October (kick-off at 7.00pm local / 12.00pm AEDT on Wednesday, 15 October).

This match follows Australia’s newly announced fixture against Canada in Montreal, further solidifying their competitive schedule.

These fixtures come on the heels of Australia’s two-match series against New Zealand in September, where they will vie for the ‘ANZAC Soccer Ashes’ trophy, enhancing the team’s competitive spirit and preparation ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26™.

The United States, currently ranked #16 in the world, recently reached the final of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup and has maintained a consistent presence in the top 20 of FIFA’s global rankings. This encounter marks the first clash between Australia and the United States in over 15 years, their last meeting occurring just prior to the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

The confirmation of these fixtures underscores the Subway Socceroos’ recent qualification for FIFA World Cup 26™, achieved through their successful campaign in the Round Three AFC Asian Qualifiers™.

Expressing security, matches against high-profile teams like the United States demonstrates Australia’s growing stature in world football, Football Australia’s Interim CEO, Heather Garriock, said: “The United States is attracting significant interest globally when it comes to friendly fixtures, and our ability to engage this match speaks volumes for Australia’s standing.”

She further elaborated on the strategic foresight involved in planning these fixtures, pointing out the advantages of playing multiple matches in North America as preparation intensifies for FIFA World Cup 26™.

Echoing this sentiment, and highlighting the importance of the fixture against the United States, Subway Socceroos’ Head Coach, Tony Popovic, added: “This match is a vital part of our preparation following our game against Canada.”

“Playing against strong opponents like the United States is an invaluable opportunity, and we are eager to leverage this experience as we refine our strategy for the tournament,” he concluded.

Fans back in Australia will have the chance to follow the action on Paramount Australia, ensuring high engagement with the Subway Socceroos as they approach a crucial period in their preparation for the world stage.
