Australian Institute of Sport’s “Sportex” to Undergo Refurbishment

image

The Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) interactive exhibit, Sportex, is set to close from next week for a scheduled refurbishment.

This upgrade aims to enhance the visitor experience by introducing new interactive displays focused on high-performance sports, including snowboarding, canoe slalom, and track cycling.

The project reflects an ongoing investment in public engagement with elite sport and the AIS campus.

To accommodate the installation of these new elements, Sportex will be closed from 23 June to 3 August 2025.

Partial closures are expected to continue through August and September, with the refreshed experience anticipated to be ready for visitors from October 2025.

This strategic upgrade of a key public attraction on the AIS Campus indicates a commitment to maintaining its relevance and appeal.

While Sportex will be temporarily closed for this refurbishment, AIS Tours will continue to operate, allowing visitors to experience other aspects of the Canberra attraction.

Tour groups with existing bookings during the closure period have been contacted regarding potential impacts on their visit.
