AFL and Toyota Good for Footy Program Launches

Australian Football League (AFL) is set to launch this season’s Toyota Good for Footy program in round 20 at Optus Stadium in a match between Fremantle and Melbourne.

The program that will begin from 29 -31 July will see a valued member of the community awarded a volunteer award and a Toyota HiLux SR5 after being nominated by community football clubs and leagues.

Also, the campaign began in 2008 and has raised more than AUD 8 million which is dedicated to helping local communities and leagues develop around Australia.

Commenting on round, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, said: “Footy means so much to so many people across the country. Local, regional towns and communities are at the heart of our game, and we will continue to engage and connect with all clubs as we bounce back together.”

“It has been exciting to see more fans filling out our stadiums across the country and I’m looking forward to seeing our volunteers and community football clubs be celebrated as part of Toyota Good for Footy Round in Round 20,” Mr McLachlan said.

Discussing the importance of the partnership with Toyota on football in Australia, AFL executive general manager of customer and commercial Kylie Rogers, said: “I would like to thank our Premier Partner, Toyota Australia, whose enduring support of the AFL continues to positively impact the football community.”

“The AFL, like Toyota Australia, shares the same values that volunteers are the heart and soul of Community Football clubs. We’re proud to work alongside Toyota in bringing to life their Toyota AFL National Volunteer Awards as well as the Toyota Good for Footy round across Australia.”

“Nominations for the Toyota AFL National Volunteer Awards are open until the end of Round 20, so there is still time to nominate someone from your club or community that deserves some recognition,” Ms Rogers said.
