Cricket Australia (CA) and the Seven Network have announced a new digital content partnership that will see 7plus host Cricket Gold, a FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channel dedicated to classic cricket matches, legendary players, and historic moments from CA’s extensive archives.
Cricket Gold marks an extension of Cricket Australia’s digital media offering and a further step in Seven’s push to expand its streaming portfolio with premium sports content.
The channel will draw on what CA describes as “the most extensive archive in world cricket,” showcasing replays, documentaries, and iconic match footage that highlight cricket’s evolution and cultural significance. The initiative builds on CA’s long-term investment in digitising and preserving its historical footage.
The launch of Cricket Gold strengthens Seven’s position as Australia’s “Home of Sport,” adding to a growing lineup of more than 50 FAST channels on 7plus. It also comes ahead of what Seven expects to be its “biggest summer of cricket”, featuring the Ashes, a women’s multiformat series against India, and both BBL and WBBL competitions.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Seven Network’s head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic, said the addition of Cricket Gold builds on the network’s partnership with CA by engaging fans beyond live broadcasts.
“With a channel dedicated to constant archival cricket content from unforgettable Ashes battles to iconic Big Bash moments, fans can now relive the greatest games of all time anytime, anywhere on 7plus.”
For CA, Cricket Gold represents an opportunity to increase the visibility of its historical content and leverage its archives as a commercial asset in an evolving media landscape where FAST channels continue to grow in popularity.
Expressing his commitment to the partnership, CA’s head of broadcast and production, Richard Ostroff, said the partnership would bring the sport’s heritage to a wider audience.
“Cricket Gold is the result of CA’s heavy investment in digitising and cataloguing our precious archival footage, and we’re pleased it is now going to be even more accessible to so many cricket fans as we celebrate our game’s rich heritage,” Ostroff concluded.
