66th Repco Bathurst 1000 Reaches Record-Breaking Attendance

The 66th running of the Repco Bathurst 1000 attracted a crowd of 204,223 fans to Mount Panorama across race week, delivering a three per cent year-on-year increase on the 198,203 attendees recorded in 2025.

The figure represents the highest total attendance for the Great Race since 2018, highligting the commercial momentum of the Repco Supercars Championship.

Mount Panorama’s camping infrastructure experienced unprecedented demand, with all 7,100 designated campsites selling out within 90 minutes of release in May, housing over 20,000 patrons on site.

Supported by the New South Wales Government via Destination NSW, the 2026 event carried significant cultural weight as the motorsport community marked the 20th anniversary of the passing of nine-time Bathurst winner Peter Brock through dedicated fan activations in the Bathurst CBD and Mount Panorama paddock.

The event culminated in an extraordinary sporting finish on Sunday, where Dick Johnson Racing duo Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood secured victory after Team 18’s Anton De Pasquale ran out of fuel on the final lap while leading.

Praising the event’s scale and commercial growth, Supercars executive chairman and acting CEO, Barclay Nettlefold, said: “The Repco Bathurst 1000 continues to capture the imagination of Australian sports fans and once again demonstrates that this is the motor race that stops the nation.”

“To welcome 204,223 fans through the gates this week is a testament to the passion of our fans, the commitment of our teams and drivers, and the incredible support we receive from our partners, volunteers and the Bathurst community.

“The atmosphere across Mount Panorama all week was extraordinary, from the record number of people camping on the Mountain to the wonderful tributes celebrating Peter Brock and his remarkable legacy,” Nettlefold stated.

Bathurst Mayor, Cr Ben Fry commended the broader community and tourism impact, pointing to the economic vitality generated across the region.

“Bathurst is the spiritual home of Australian motorsport, and every October the fans remind us exactly why.”

“From the campgrounds on the Mountain to the packed streets of our CBD, the atmosphere across Bathurst has been extraordinary.

“It’s the passion and loyalty of these fans, many of whom return year after year and generation after generation, that make the Great Race what it is,” Fry said.

Following the successful execution of the regular season finale at Mount Panorama, the Repco Supercars Championship transitions immediately to the streets of Surfers Paradise for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 from October 23-25, launching the inaugural 2026 Repco Supercars Finals Series.
