The 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series between Australia and India has shattered records across Australia’s major broadcast platforms, becoming one of the most-watched cricket events in history. From Foxtel Group and SEN to Network Seven, the series captivated audiences nationwide with its dramatic moments and historic milestones.

Historic Milestones on Foxtel Group

The series achieved unprecedented success on Foxtel’s platforms, including Foxtel, Kayo Sports, and Foxtel Now:

  • 47% audience growth compared to the 2023/24 Summer of Cricket Tests.
  • 20% increase over the previous Australia-India series in 2020/21.
  • A record 1.4 billion minutes streamed, making it the most-streamed Test series in Foxtel Group history.

Steve Crawley, Fox Sports Managing Director, credited the series’ success to standout performances by players like Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, and India’s Jasprit Bumrah, along with innovative AI-driven broadcast enhancements.

“The Test series was historic in every sense. Australians chose our world-class production to follow every minute of the action,” Crawley said.

Digital Dominance with SEN

The series also drove extraordinary digital engagement for the Sports Entertainment Network (SEN):

  • 1.2 million streams across SEN’s website and apps.
  • Over 37 million minutes streamed on SEN platforms.
  • A 713% increase in SEN Stadium users compared to last year’s Test series.

SEN CEO Craig Hutchison praised the fan engagement:
“These record-breaking numbers reflect the passion of cricket fans and the efforts of the SEN team to deliver comprehensive coverage. We’re excited to continue innovating in 2025.”

Record Viewership on Network Seven

On Network Seven, the series reached an impressive 13.4 million viewers across Seven and 7plus Sport. The final Test alone attracted a peak audience of 1.76 million, breaking records for the highest-viewed session in Seven’s history.

Seven Network’s Director of Sport, Chris Jones, described the series as “the most compelling since Seven acquired the rights.”

“The Fifth Test delivered some of the best cricket moments, from Virat Kohli’s century to Scott Boland’s SCG heroics,” Jones said.

What’s Next

As cricket continues to dominate Australia’s summer, the momentum shifts to the Big Bash League, which has already seen a 15% increase in viewership, and the upcoming Women’s Ashes, beginning January 12.

The extraordinary success of the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series cements cricket’s position as Australia’s premier summer sport, setting new benchmarks for fan engagement and broadcast innovation.
