Zoom, MLB To Bring New Elements To Broadcasts

The Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced an exciting partnership with Zoom, making the video conferencing platform the official unified communications platform of MLB.

The deal will see Zoom Contact Centre and the Zoom platform technology power new elements of Major League Baseball games and broadcasts.

One of the most exciting developments resulting from this partnership will be the use of Zoom during replay reviews.

The Crew Chief, the most senior member of the four-man umpire crew, will now connect to the Zoom Replay Operations Centre through Zoom Contact Centre during a replay review.

This will provide fans with live access to the decision as it’s made, bringing more transparency and engagement to the replay review process.

Fans watching national broadcasts on the MLB Network and Apple TV+ will also see the Zoom Replay Operations Centre in action, along with an expert rules analyst dedicated to discussing calls with the broadcast team in real time.

In addition to improving the replay review process, Zoom will also play a crucial role in high-pressure MLB events, such as day one of the 2023 MLB Draft and other events.
