Yonex, the renowned Japanese sports equipment company, has prolonged its commercial collaboration with the Australian Open (AO) grand slam tennis tournament.

Having initially sponsored the Melbourne event since 2018, Yonex now solidifies its position as the official stringer for the upcoming 2024 edition, scheduled to unfold from January 14-28.

The extension of this partnership is in response to the collective desire of both athletes and tournament organisers. Naomi Osaka, a two-time Australian Open champion, stands as a prominent brand ambassador for Yonex.

The renewed alliance between Yonex and the event organisers was officially disclosed in September 2018, with the previous agreement expiring after the culmination of the 2023 Australian Open.

In other recent developments, Bondi Sands, a sunscreen brand, committed to extending its sponsorship of the Australian Open until 2027, while Luzhou Laojiao, an alcohol company, also announced a multi-year renewal of its partnership with the tournament.

With Tennis Australia augmenting the prize pool by AU$10 million, the world’s top tennis players are poised to vie for a record AU$86.5 million at the event.

The 2023 tournament set a remarkable milestone by breaking grand slam attendance records, attracting 902,312 visitors to Melbourne Park over the course of three weeks.
