The 2023 Royal Rumble was one for the record books, where the event was not only the highest-grossing and most-viewed Royal Rumble in WWE history, but it also broke all-time venue merchandise and sponsorship records.

On the record setting night, a WWE statement said: “The event set a new all-time gate record at more than $7.7 million, far surpassing the previous Royal Rumble high in 2017 by more than 50%.”

“Viewership of the event saw a 52% increase versus the previous record set in 2022,” it said.

The merchandise sales skyrocketed 135% from the previous year and the sponsorship revenue was a staggering 200% higher than in 2022.

There was also the first-ever sponsored match, MTN DEW PITCH BLACK, and the sponsored countdown clock, by Applebee’s.

WWE’s social media was buzzing with activity, with the Roman Reigns-Sami Zayn videos generating 20 million views and becoming the most-viewed WWE clip of 2023.

The high-flying collision between Logan Paul and Ricochet was another crowd-pleaser, amassing 26.5 million views across WWE and Paul’s platforms.

Then, to top it off, Reigns’ TikTok account was launched, attracting 100,000 followers in just 24 hours.

The announcement comes after Endeavour, owners of the UFC, emerged as frontrunners to acquire the WWE.
