The 2025 Australian WPGA Championship has secured expanded broadcast coverage across 9Network, Foxtel, and Kayo, reinforcing the increasing commercial and media investment in women’s sport.
With women’s sport continuing to gain traction among broadcasters, sponsors, and audiences, the decision to extend coverage reflects golf’s position within this broader shift. The PGA of Australia and Golf Australia’s Chief Commercial Officer, Michael McDonald, emphasised the growing demand for women’s golf and the importance of providing more visibility for elite female athletes.
The WPGA Championship will feature some of Australia’s top female golfers, including LPGA Tour winner Grace Kim. Backed by Experience Gold Coast and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, the event is another step towards greater equity in sports broadcasting.
As media networks and commercial partners recognise the value of women’s competitions, the continued expansion of coverage plays a crucial role in growing participation, increasing sponsorship opportunities, and elevating the status of female athletes in professional sport.
