The governing body of World Curling has announced a partnership with StreamAMG, a UK-based video and technology services firm, to revamp its streaming platform – The Curling Channel – in time for the 2024 World Junior Curling Championships in Lohja, Finland.
The newly enhanced service will leverage StreamAMG’s innovative Blaze platform to deliver both live and on-demand content from World Curling events.
“As part of our new strategy of commercial and entrepreneurial growth, we were looking for a new platform that could significantly enhance the viewer experience and open up new markets to help us to generate a consistent income from streaming productions,” said Colin Grahamslaw, Secretary General of World Curling.
“Following an exhaustive process, we believe that StreamAMG is the right partner to help us drive that experience to new and larger audiences.
“This is the first phase of approach to making our content available to the world. This new platform gives us the opportunity to grow our streaming offering and make it the ultimate location for curling coverage.”
The revamped Curling Channel, powered by StreamAMG’s Blaze platform, is set to debut with coverage of the World Junior Curling Championships starting on Saturday, February 17.
“Curling is a sport that is growing in popularity all over the world and not just in its traditional regions. We are honoured to be awarded the opportunity to be part of the sport’s efforts to grow and to form part of its new commercial direction,” added Hugo Sharman, CEO of StreamAMG.
StreamAMG introduced its Blaze platform in October 2023, touting it as a game-changing solution to empower rightsholders and revolutionize the over-the-top (OTT) landscape. The platform promises a fast-to-market, cost-efficient and future-proof streaming solution tailored to the specific needs of content owners and distributors.
With a track record of delivering OTT platforms for various sports entities, StreamAMG has cemented its position as a leading provider in the industry. Past collaborations include powering streaming services for prestigious organisations such as ATP Media, Curling Canada, Inter Milan, and the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
