The Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) has unveiled a revitalised brand identity that boldly signals the readiness of women’s basketball in Australia to ascend to new heights.
Titled “Ready to Rise,” the new brand reflects a commitment to purpose and progress—measuring successes not just by statistics, but by the dreams achieved and barriers overcome.
Commenting on the launch, WNBL CEO, Jennie Sager, said: “The WNBL has emerged from a rich history, and today, we embark on a new chapter that is shaping the future of the game for our players, fans, and clubs,”
“The new logo reflects our vision for the future of women’s basketball in Australia—strong, dynamic, professional, and inspiring,” Sager said.
She highlighted that this focus on renewal is part of a series of transformative changes since the league’s ownership transition in April, including a landmark Collective Bargaining Agreement that introduced a pioneering pro-rata pay parity deal.
In constructing the new brand, the league actively sought input from both current and former players, as well as various stakeholders associated with the clubs and the broader league.
The rebranding initiative has garnered positive feedback from notable athletes within the league, Olympian and WNBA player, Jade Melbourne, noted: “I think it’s super fitting for us. It’s ours, it’s our new league, it’s a great product, and it’s only going to get better and better with a fresh start and new logo.
“It’s going to look fantastic on the court,” Melbourne expressed.
The new tagline, “Ready to Rise,” embodies a dynamic spirit, merging elegance and intensity in a way that captures the talent, passion, and energy of the league’s athletes.
The innovative ‘w’ motif draws inspiration from the net and hoop, evolving into a winged symbol that represents both aspiration and evolution.
“Ready to Rise” is thus positioned as a commitment to the sporting community—a declaration that transcends basketball alone.
It speaks to the legacy being built within the sport, demonstrating a future vibrant with potential and purpose.
